Daniel Barnett is a loving 7-year-old Howell resident with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). He attends Challenger Elementary. DMD is a fatal genetic disorder that prevents muscle growth in young boys. Daniel’s struggle with DMD will be throughout his life since there is currently no cure for this disorder. Daniel and his family travel to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for special care. As Daniel gets older, his physical abilities will become limited and his need for supportive care will increase.
CLICK HERE for a short video that Daniel's mother sent us. Daniel will have many needs throughout his lifetime, assistance is needed to afford his treatments and future care. At the end of the video, there is information on how to help or get involved.

My name is Megan Elfline and on August 14th I will embark on an incredible journey known as the Breast Cancer 3-Day benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I will be walking 60 miles over the course of three days as a symbol for the fight against Breast Cancer. The goals of the Breast Cancer 3-Day are to: raise funds for support of breast cancer research, education, community health programs and awareness. The 3-Day is a weekend of hope, as we honor lives lost, celebrate survivors, promote breast cancer research and help bring breast cancer care to those who so desperately need it. You can be a part of this incredible event by becoming a donor for this wonderful cause.
I have committed myself to walk and have agreed to raise a minimum of $3,000 to help fight breast cancer. Net proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Days benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs, as well as the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, to provide an endowment for breast cancer initiatives. In order to reach my goal, I am asking for your support in the form of a monetary donation. I would appreciate any support that you could provide.
I am fortunate in that I have not been directly affected by breast cancer, but I know that it does many others. I would like to do my part to help end breast cancer by participating in the 3-Day and you can help me to do so. Our motto is: “Imagine a world without breast cancer”. I want to be involved in this effort. The 3-Day is an event bigger than you or me, it is a movement. A movement composed of people who stand for a common cause-to end breast cancer.
Now is the time to take action to help end this disease. The more funds that I raise, the sooner we can end this fight. More information about the Breast Cancer 3-Day can be found at www.The3Day.org or by calling 800.996.3DAY; I can be reached by phone (979-450-6384), or email (maelfline@yahoo.com) if you should have any questions. Donations may be made to me or online at www.The3Day.org. The deadline for reaching my fundraising goal is May 31st. By supporting me in the Breast Cancer 3-Day, you will ultimately help put an end to breast cancer. Thank you for your support and consideration.
